Harry Tully
When Harry Tully arrived at Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital, he faced a life-changing recovery. After a serious accident left him with a traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury resulting in quadriplegia, Harry had already endured a prolonged hospitalization. He required a tracheostomy to breathe, relied on tube feeding for nutrition, and needed full assistance for even the most basic movements.
Despite these challenges, Harry had a clear goal for rehab from the start: to return home and resume leading his business.
At Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital, an inpatient medical rehabilitation hospital specializing in intensive therapy and recovery, Harry began a comprehensive rehabilitation program tailored to his needs. His care plan brought together medical management and a coordinated approach across physical, occupational, and speech therapy, each focused on helping him regain strength, independence, and function.
Through hard work, determination, and the support of his care team, Harry made remarkable progress. He was able to have his breathing tube removed and breathe on his own again. With the help of speech therapy, he regained the ability to safely eat and drink. And as his strength improved, he progressed from needing total assistance to performing slide board transfers with minimal help, while also building his upper-body mobility.
By the time of his discharge, Harry had achieved what once felt out of reach. He returned home to his family and resumed operating his business.
Reflecting on his experience, Harry shared, “Kam, Kelsea, and Bridget are the best. I would not have made it without them.” He added, “My care was top-notch. I highly recommend Gateway,” and noted, “The care team made me feel at home.”
Harry, your determination, resilience, and leadership have been truly inspiring. It has been an honor to be part of your recovery journey, and we wish you continued strength and success as you move forward.
